Mountain Goat is a coffee shop, bar, and cafe which exists to support GOAT, a non-profit which provides life changing opportunities for at-risk youth all over Greenville. GOAT partners with over 40 local organizations to provide free outdoor trips, mentoring and job opportunities for middle and high students through our partner organization, GOAT.  Every single purchase at Mountain Goat supports these students. 

We are looking to hire an experienced manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of Mountain Goat (MG). The manager’s responsibilities include processing payments using the Point of Sale System, managing staff schedule, tracking and stocking all inventory, and ensuring MG is clean and well-presented at all times. Ideal candidates will demonstrate exemplary management and leadership skills and ensure that all duties are carried out efficiently. This position will lead a team of 10-13 staff members. 

The manager will work hours as a barista/bartender as well as specific administrative hours to make sure that the shop is running proficiently.

Manager Responsibilities:

  • Recruiting, training, supervising and retaining staff

  • Preparing weekly work schedules for staff and finding suitable replacements in cases of staff absence.

  • Receiving delivered supplies and verifying that the correct items and quantities have been delivered.

  • Direct report to DHEC regarding the kitchen and requirements to maintain in good standing with an A rating. 

  • Taking inventory of supplies and ordering new stock as needed.

  • Resolving customer complaints regarding customer service.

  • Identifying strategies to retain and attract customers.

  • Understand the relationship between Mountain Goat and GOAT, the non-profit organization Goat supports.

Manager Requirements:

  • Proven management or leadership experience in the hospitality industry preferred

  • A food handler’s license (preferred, not mandatory)

  • Sound knowledge of food health and safety regulations.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Effective communication skills.

  • Exceptional customer service skills.

  • Availability to work weekday mornings, evenings, and Saturdays

We are looking to hire a kitchen assistant to help continue to develop our food program. We currently make and sell authentic Liège waffles, a Belgian street food which is a yeasty dough-like waffle. This position would make dough, cook waffles, and prep and bake other food products to sell at Mountain Goat. We are also open to the right candidate who would like to bring and introduce their own recipes to add to our menu.

Kitchen Assistant responsibilities:

  • Assisting with stocking and setting up the kitchen stations

  • Preparing food including cleaning and cutting the ingredients and cooking

  • Washing and cleaning the kitchen and cooking utensils and storing the equipment at the end of shifts 

  • Ensuring that the kitchen operation procedures and hygiene meet food safety standards and regulations

Kitchen Assistant requirements:

  • Knowledge and practice DHEC requirements regarding the kitchen to maintain in good standing with an A rating. 

  • Availability to work weekday mornings, evenings, and Saturdays

  • Experience working in a DHEC certified kitchen preferred

  • A food handler’s license (prefered, but will be provided)

  • Sound knowledge of food health and safety regulations.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Effective communication skills.

We will have a presence at the TR Farmer’s Market in addition to other eents, selling our liège waffles weekly through the summer months. This person will be responsible for set up/tear down, waffle cooking, and working with a team of up to 3 people on Saturdays during the market months.

Farmer’s Market Responsibilities: 

  • Lead set up and tear down for the market days
  • Take payments, top waffles, and cook waffles
  • Clean and maintain waffle set up

Farmer’s Market Requirements:

  • Availability to work Saturdays from 7am-1pm from May 7-Sep 17
  • A food handler’s license (preferred, but will be provided)
  • Sound knowledge of food health and safety regulations.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

The Mountain Goat kitchen is responsible for cooking pastries, food prep and chopping for waffle toppings, grocery shopping, and cooking waffles.

Summer Kitchen Employee Responsibilities: 

  • Following recipes to keep pastry case stocked with items
  • Assisting with stocking and setting up the kitchen stations
  • Preparing food including cleaning and cutting the ingredients and cooking
  • Washing and cleaning the kitchen and cooking utensils and storing the equipment at the end of shifts 
  • Ensuring that the kitchen operation procedures and hygiene meet food safety standards and regulations

Summer Kitchen Employee Requirements:

  • Knowledge and practice DHEC requirements regarding the kitchen to maintain in good standing with an A rating. 
  • Availability to work 15-20 hours per week with non-negotiable Wednesday and Friday morning availability from 7am-11am 
  • Experience working in a DHEC certified kitchen preferred
  • A food handler’s license (prefered, but will be provided)
  • Sound knowledge of food health and safety regulations.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
